Year 2 Badgers

Welcome to Badgers.

Class Teacher: Mrs Beighton
Learning Support: Miss Pyecroft

We hope you all had a wonderful break and are feeling refreshed for the second half of the autumn term. It was lovely to speak with so many of you at parents’ evening and to hear how much the children are enjoying their learning and being part of Year 2. We are so excited to continue our journey together.

This half term promises to be a busy and exciting one, especially as we prepare for Christmas and our much-anticipated nativity production in December. We cannot wait to get started on all the wonderful activities we have planned.

In maths, the children will be focusing on addition, subtraction, and shapes, building on their previous learning. In English, we will be diving into sentence structure, where the children will learn about the different parts of a sentence and work on creating their own descriptive pieces.

For our history unit, we will be exploring the fascinating story of the old railway building in Measham. The children will look at how the building has changed over the years, and we are especially excited for our trip to the museum on Tuesday, the 29th of October to bring this learning to life.

After history, our geography lessons will turn to London, and in science, we will be learning all about keeping healthy.

A few reminders for the term:

• Reading books will still be changed every Monday and Thursday. Please ensure that your child’s reading diary is updated when they’ve completed a book, so we can issue a new one.

PE lessons will continue to take place on Thursdays and Fridays. Please ensure your child has their kit with them.

• Our Thursday book changing sessions will continue to take place at the school library, where the children will have the opportunity to choose new books.

We are looking forward to a fantastic half term with lots of learning, fun, and festive preparations. Thank you for your continued support.
