We are excited to welcome our Year 2 children back to school for the brand-new Spring term! We can’t wait to get started with all the new learning we have planned.

In Maths, we will be finishing off our unit on 3-D shapes and moving on to exploring money, followed by multiplication and division. The children are sure to enjoy these topics as we build on their skills.

In English, the children will be writing their very own stories about an explorer. This is a fantastic opportunity for them to develop their creativity and storytelling abilities.

For our Wider Curriculum, we’ll be learning about the fascinating topics of Law, Royalty, and Parliament. In Materials, we’ll focus on classifying properties, and in Computing, the children will be delighted to know that we’ll be learning all about Scratch—a fun and interactive way to code.

PE will continue every Thursday and Friday. Please ensure your child comes to school in their PE kit on those days.

Reading books will be changed every Monday and Thursday, and we kindly ask that you continue to write in the reading diary when your child has finished their book by clearly writing “Book Finished”. This will help us to change the books quickly for them.

We are also looking forward to two full days of Design Technology, where the children will be planning and creating their very own vehicles using a cereal box. They will be incorporating axles, chassis, and wheels-we can’t wait to race them to see which car is the fastest!

We’re excited for the term ahead and all the wonderful learning opportunities. Let’s make this Spring term a fantastic one.
